IRIXDiVX 0.93 ================== Copyright (C) 2001-2003 by Brandon Corey Introduction ============ Let me start by apologizing for the length of time since the last release. I was on somewhat of a rampage, and was just overwhelmed with some of the functionality that I wanted to add. I realized that this could go on forever, so that being said, here's the latest version. Currently supported formats: ============================ AVI Streams MPEG Streams (including VCD, SVCD, and DVD) DiVX Original Video DiVX 4.xx Video Uncompressed Video MPEG1 Video MPEG2 Video MPEG Layers 1, 2, and 3 Audio Uncompressed Audio DVD and CSS Information ======================= Now before anyone gets too excited, let me start by saying that CSS decryption is NOT supported with DVD's. I had a tough time deciding on whether or not to include that, and I came to the conclusion that it's just not worth the risk. I don't want to spend time dealing with legal issues. If anyone is interested in contributing towards a CSS license, or has any ideas on the subject, please feel free to contact me. That being said, support is included for playing non-CSS encrypted discs. I used a "cinematic DVD" from the Diablo II Collector's Edition game while writing the DVD routines. Some older movies and most "freebie" DVD video discs are un-encrypted. Binary Versions =============== I've currently changed the version structure around. The previous binaries were: irixdivx.software irixdivx.gl irixdivx.gl.r10k The first two were somewhat integrated, and I now provide: irixdivx.m3 (mips3) irixdivx.gl (mips4 + Optimized) Bug Reporting ============= To make bug tracking easier, I've implemented a web based bug tracking system called Mantis. The bug tracker page is: http://www.blackboxcentral.com/mantis/login_page.php You can go there and peruse the currently open bugs. You can login anonymously to view bugs, but you need to create an account to post them. It's an automated system that grants you immediate access via an email address. Instructions on filling out bug forms are located on the page. You can also include sysdumps and movies directly from the bug page. Please note that no one else can view your files, so don't worry about any FILES you attach to bugs becoming public information. There is a size limit on movies, so if they're too big, just post a link to them. If you don't want the link to be publically known, you can always attach a text file with the link location. The SYSDUMP Program =================== A note regarding the sysdump program. Although must people haven't had any issues, I have had one or two individuals ask me about the information it contains, and why it's not just text, etc... The sysdump format grabs the equivalent of an hinv, but includes extra information such as the IRIX release, and graphics hardware details. It is in a binary format to make bug tracking easier. If anyone needs further information, please feel free to contact me. That being said, there are NO bank account numbers, passwords, etc.. being extracted from your system. Standard Disclaimer =================== The standard disclaimer applies. By using this software, you choose to do so at your own risk. If it blows up your computer, destroys France, or anything else, I won't be held responsible. Did anyone get this far? ======================== Last but not least, I plan on posting another version with more fixes and features in the coming weeks. However, I wanted to get this "pre-release" out for people to play around with. That being said, have fun, and please let me know if you have any ideas on improving the program.
